Marketing Ideas for Professional Organizers

Most Professional Organizers do not have a large budget for marketing. Instead, they use their creativity to find some low-cost methods of advertising their business.

One idea is to give your services away for free, for a good cause. Charities often have auctions and ask businesses to donate things that they can auction off for their charity. Why not donate a certain number of hours of Professional Organizing to the charity for their auction? Your business will get free publicity during the auction, and you will be contributing to a good cause as well.

You should also follow up with your current clients periodically. I don't mean you should become a pest, but a short email or letter once in a while can keep you in their minds. You could ask them to recommend you to their friends and associates who might need a Professional Organizer.

There are often events in your community where you can set up a booth to showcase your Professional Organizer business, such as county fairs or home improvement shows. Be sure to be prepared with lots of materials such as brochures and business cards to give away at these events. To make your booth interesting, set up a display. Maybe you could display before and after pictures of your work. Or set up some information to explain what a Professional Organizer does. Some people don't really know what you do!

Teaching classes in organization and other related subjects is another way to find people who might be interested in your services. This way you can be earning money by teaching, and advertising your business at the same time. Just make sure your class is not focused on advertising. Your students would see right through that, and it would be counterproductive. You should be giving your students good and useful information on organizing, and not doing a lot of self-promotion in the class. You don't need to do that anyway. Just print your name and number on all the materials. Your students will see from your expert knowledge that you are a good Professional Organizer.
