Professional Organizers and the Housing Boom

Have you ever thought of broadening your services as a Professional Organizer? Right now there is a boom in buying and selling of houses, and you might as well take advantage of it.

Professional Organizers are great at getting rid of clutter. And what keeps a house from selling? Clutter! How about marketing your services to people who are getting their houses ready to sell?

If you have good relationships with some realtors in your area, you could make up brochures, and your realtor friends could pass them on to their clients. After all, the realtors also have an interest in getting a house cleaned up and ready to sell. They would probably be happy to refer their clients to a good Professional Organizer.

When you get into this kind of work, you need to focus very much on presentation. You will not be trying to figure out storage solutions. You will be trying to get rid of stuff, not store it. In my opinion, a Professional Organizer should be advocating this anyway. I don't think it does clients any favors to just figure out how to store and organize their stuff better, without educating them on the power of having less stuff in the first place.

If you have any knowledge of Feng Shui, this can help also. Feng Shui deals with the flow of energy through a house. Usually a house that has good Feng Shui looks very inviting and uncluttered. Maybe I will do a post on Feng Shui in the future.

But for now, think about how to cash in on the housing boom, by offering your Professional Organizing services to home sellers who really need it!
